Touching on one of our goals from our strategic plan, we want to get the community more interested in our community media center. With Youth Media Day, we’re looking for a more hands-on approach, letting those youths interested in media production to come in and check out our studios.
Youth Media Day is on August 2, 2014 from 10am-1pm. It is open to youth of all ages and only costs $10*. There are three activities scheduled for the day. First up, kids will get a tour of our Community Media Center - we’ll show them our TV studios, control rooms, props department, and how the center generally functions.
Next, we’ll split up the group into two. The first group will attend an hour and a half Photoshop Mini-Workshop where they’ll learn cool tricks like how to clone and liquify. Everyone will learn how the pros use Photoshop to place items from one photo onto another.
While that group is busy learning Photoshop, the other group will be exploring our TV Studio . This is where kids will get to pick up and use camera equipment, check out how to properly light a scene, find out what all those buttons do in the control room, and learn the basics of set design for a TV studio program.
We’re looking forward to this fun day for kids.
