What’s Happening: May 2014

May is warming up to be a very busy month for CreaTV San Jose! Here’s a rundown of what we’re looking forward to:

Our final classes of our Spring Class schedule are happening this month. It’s not too late to sign up to them.

May 3: Field Production
Get certified in Field Production and check out our camera kits for only $25 per day. Hands-on instruction provided on field gear, including cameras, lights and audio equipment.

May 10: TV Studio
Learn how to operate our HD studio equipment, including cameras, lights and audio equipment. Certification allows you to volunteer crew in the studio after participation on a practice show.

May 10: TV Control Room
Learn to use our HD broadcast switcher and other control room equipment. Certification allows you to volunteer crew in the control room after participation on a practice show.

May 24: After Effects
Make your videos come alive with visual effects and motion graphics. Learn the basics of Adobe After Effects, including compositing, titling and working with layers. Class requires intermediate Mac skills.

Mark BoscacciThis class is taught by Mark Boscacci, an accomplished Director of Photography, Video Editor, Motion-Graphics Artist, Photographer, Author, Musician, and Teacher of digital arts. He has produced compelling video content for some of the most prestigious companies in the world including: Apple, Adobe, HP, Levi Strauss, Microsoft, Live Nation and Bank of America, to name a few.

May 28: Orientation
Learn what CreaTV has to offer and how to make the best use of your community media center.

May 7: San Jose Documentary begins to film

As announced back in September, CreaTV San Jose is partnering with Norman Kline Productions and History San Jose to produce a major documentary on the history of San Jose. After much planning and scheduling, filming begins on May 7th!

May 12: Filming Harker Speaker series

We’ll be on-location filming the presentation by education activist Kakenya Ntaiya, whose childhood dream of attending college led her to an inspiring life of service and advocacy.

May 20: Filming San Jose Adobe Youth Voices Live 2014 at the Montgomery Theatre

May 28: CreaTV’s “Lights, Camera, Take Action!” Fundraiser for Youth Programs

On May 28, we will host Lights, Camera, Take Action!, a sit down dinner in our studio to benefit our youth media programs. Attendees will meet some of the kids, see samples of their video work and get to demo some of our new gear throughout the night. May 29: Filming the Education Media Invention Awards
Cambrian, Moreland and Union School Districts present: EMI Awards (Education Media Invention Awards) located at the Heritage Theater in Campbell.
