Fernando J Perez is the newest addition to the CreaTV team, he is our new Community Media Manager bringing over a decade of experience working in education, community organizing and digital media production.
Fernando was born and raised in San Jose, CA and attended Abraham Lincoln High School a performing arts magnet where he learned about digital media, theater and dance. He attended De Anza College where he got involved in animation and student organizing. He transferred to San Jose State University earning his Bachelor’s degree in Radio Television Film and Theater production. He was a Disc Jockey and manager of the Latin Alternative Music Department for 4 years at the university radio station 90.5 FM KSJS. He is also a cofounder of Sonido Clash, a collective that produces events focused on the Latino sound diaspora here in the bay area.
For the past 10 years he was an employee at Silicon Valley De-Bug, a storytelling, community organizing, and advocacy organization based in San Jose, California he worked there as a community organizer, video director, instructor and coeditor of their online and print publication. Fernando is also a graduate of the Multicultural Arts Leadership Institute and a recent fellow of the American Leadership Forum.
Fernando was a longtime public access television producer and CreaTV member, he helped produce It’s On television, Whats Crackin TV, Union Rocker TV and Debug TV. He also volunteered and lead media production workshops at the Alum Rock library as a CreaTV instructor.
CreaTV is gaining a passionate community organizer and media producer that will strengthen our engagement with the diverse south bay community. He is passionate about community media, storytelling, production, music and arts, community organizing and education.
