This week we are dedicating Transformation Tuesday to our amazing staff! CreaTV is a place where not only our members, but also our staff can grow and expand their knowledge of media. The opportunities are endless when you are willing to put in the work and seize opportunities.
I know from personal experience, I started working at CreaTV as the Front Desk Admin Assistant. I began taking the classes we offer and realized that I really liked editing. I played around with Adobe Premiere Pro and other edit suites in my down time.
Then when the opportunity to take over our social media accounts arose, I jumped. I started to really enjoy posting and creating flyers, so much so that when the Marketing and Design Coordinator position opened up, I applied right away! When I was offered the position, I accepted with the upmost excitement. I have been able to learn so much at CreaTV and I look forward to developing my skill set even more!
Jocelyn Bringas also started at the front desk back in 2014. With her background in Radio, Television, and Film she was quickly offered the position of Access Facilitator where she had the opportunity to interact with our members and producers and help them with their equipment checkout needs. She also frequently helped out in the studio when needed.
Due to Jocelyn’s relationships with producers, knowledge of equipment and programing and her ability to take initiative she was later offered the position of Content and Tech Strategist. “(As Access Facilitator) I became really familiar with the regulars, and now (as the Content and Tech Strategist) I get to actually help them with their programs!”
However, the award for the most inspiring transformation has to go to Jason Riles! Jason started at CreaTV as an intern in 2013. “When I started, I didn’t even know how to turn on a computer,” he said. Jason worked hard for years and took every opportunity to learn all he could from hands on experience in the studio and out in the field.
After 1,500 volunteer hours Jason officially joined the team as Access Facilitator. This position allowed him to take on multiple responsibilities including teaching all of CreaTV’s classes to members, helping producers with equipment, and dabbling in editing.
Jason now holds the position of Staff Producer, delivering projects for clients such as PG&E and NorCal Public Media. Jason also produces CreaTV’s political show, Valley Politics. As seen in the photo, he has completely transformed the look and feel of the show.
When asked what makes Jason such a great producer, Mickey Beese, Director of Production replied, “He knows all aspects of production and he worked his way from the ground up”. Jason is proof that hard work and determination pays off!
