When students ask me what interning with us is really like, I always light up!
I tell them, “You’ll learn how the rubber meets the road.” You’ll work with other like-minded community members, students and knowledgeable staff. You’ll pick up practical tips of the trade, learn to work effectively in a team setting and put your hands on and use our equipment as much as you want! Our classes, workshops and events are free for you to attend, plus you get free access to all our equipment during the internship. Seniors in college love this when working on their final projects and production reels for their own advancement. Basically, you get real world experience, get to hang out with a bunch of super interesting media professionals and get more connected with your community.
There are lots of ways you can plug in and gain experience; from studio and field productions, to graphic design, to community outreach and community education. I can’t gloat enough because in the three years I’ve been here, I’ve seen driven interns take what they’ve learned here and moved on to successful media production careers or who have gone on to graduate programs in the field.
