Marketing Internships – Interview with Kurt Wang

Name: Kurt Wang
Date of Internship: February ~ April 2014

Why did you become a CreaTV intern?

To learn more about San Jose’s community media center, develop experience in marketing, and look behind-the-scenes of TV/media projects.

What was your favorite project? What did you learn from it?

My favorite project would be creating, conducting, and analyzing membership survey. I enjoyed the telephone callings and the conversations I had with previous and current CreaTV members. I learned how to successfully execute a survey project, which includes writing effective questionnaires, marketing survey, and practicing efficient telephone calling.

What is the most important thing that you will take away with you?

I gained the confidence to approach someone (in person or on the phone) to talk about an event or project.

What advice would you give to future interns?

If you are nervous about making phone calls to strangers, practice telephone calls with other interns.

Set a goal or quota on how much you want to accomplish and keep that in mind; it will motivate you and keep you focus.

And last but not the least: bring food.

If you had your own TV show at CreaTV, what would it be called and what would it be about?

“Art People Here?” (pronounced “Are people here?”) – to provide exposure for San Jose artists and art organizations.
