CreaTV Presents will be hosting the second program of the series on Tuesday, November 26 from 6:30 to 8:30.


Get in the Game! How people power can impact San Jose's future.                                  Our November conversation will focus on civic engagement and will provide a variety of ways community members can engage in social, political, and community issues. Panelists (see below) will bring experience in their work on various city committees, nonprofit work, and the upcoming new voting experience in Santa Clara County. We look forward to spending the evening to experience thought provoking and engaging conversations.

Natalie Goolsby


Natalie Goolsby is a creative, ambitious, easy-going native San Jose organizer, that is the secret sauce in the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters. Natalie, who is the Outreach Coordinator, is an entrepreneur at heart, always brings a fresh and crisp lens to her creative designing, when engaging voters in Santa Clara County. Growing up in San Jose, and working 17 years with the County, Natalie is broad-minded in her approach to reaching every type of Voter in the county.

 Natalie is a great leader, has taken part in many committees and forums, bringing the intersectionality of engaging voters where they are at, which makes a huge asset to this community. When she is not making sure that "Democracy includes us all," she is creating beautiful clothing and furniture designs.

Alex Shoor


Alex was raised in Silicon Valley and came home after a dozen years away. He’s on San Jose's Housing & Community Development Commission and the Advisory Board of the Silicon Valley chapter of New Leaders Council.


Most recently, at the communications and public engagement consulting firm Katz & Associates, Alex worked with the Valley Transportation Authority on the extension of BART into Silicon Valley. He has also been a policy aide for a Santa Clara County Supervisor and a Director of Government Affairs for a Bay Area nonprofit organization.

Alex studied Political Science and African American Studies while earning a BA from Vanderbilt University and holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California. Alex lives off The Alameda in San Jose and is active in his neighborhood association.

 

 

Peter Allen


Peter Allen is a third-generation San José native with deep roots in our community. He currently runs his own communications consultancy, specializing in public relations, nonprofit development, and electoral politics. From 2016-2018, Peter served as Public Information Officer for San José Unified School District, where he directed internal and external communications for 41 schools, 4,000 employees, and 25,000 families. He has spent the past eight years as a Board Member and/or Managing Director of Teatro Visión, a Latinx/Chicanx theater company nurturing arts and opportunity in underserved San José communities. A former City of San José Arts Commission Chair, Peter currently serves on the San José Planning Commission. He graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Filmic Writing from the University of Southern California. He can occasionally be found playing bass and singing vocals with original rock band Usurper Vong. Peter’s amazing wife, Angelica Ramos-Allen, serves as Policy Director for Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg. They live in San José with their rescue dog, Josie.
