Hello CreaTV!

I have joined CreaTV and intend to take the necessary classes, but will not be finished in time for program shoot.

I am respectfully requesting any and all assistance anyone would be willing to help with the following production:

The Scottish Highland Games are practiced all over the world at over 300 locations each year. The economy has taken it's expected toll and we have lost 3 games in Northern California already.

This request is to produce a show that will:

Inform the public of the existance of the Games here in Northern California (

(over a Million or more Californians are of celtic descent, MANY know nothing of the games and the fact that the largest Games in the World are held in Pleasanton every year and have been for 144 years.)

Educate the public about the Heavy Events Athletics (8 mandatory events that are the most physically demanding, technically challenging sports in the world).

Educate the public about the games in general that, besides the professional and amateur athletic competitions include:

Athletic Heavy Events (men and women)
Piping and Drumming (individual and bands compete and perform)
Highland Dancing Competition and Performances
Celtic Country Dancing Music
Sheep Dog Trials
Birds of Prey Demonstrations and Exhibits
Musical Entertainment
Historical Re-Enactments
The Kilted Mile Race
The Childrens Glen
The Clydesdales
And the awaited Grandstand Show (a must see…)

As you can see by this partial list, the visual / video possibilities and potential for an all encompassing, exciting show is tremendous!

Please help us save this exemplary cultural and athletic event while educating and celebrating an exciting, but little known culture here and around the world.

Some related information:

The event is produced entirely by volunteers from the Caledonian Club of San Francisco.
The Caledonian Club does not take government funding or apply for foundation support. Its is very rare indeed when a nonprofit organization produces such a huge event without relying on funding.
The annual format of virtually all Highland games creates consistency. People plan their vacation calendars to permit visits to their favorite games.
The format has proven to be an excellent way of educating children about their heritage. The very young have fun; its like going to the fair!

Kind Regards,

Jim Walker
