What is CreaTV San Jose?
CreaTV San Jose is a member-based, non-profit community media center that manages San Jose’s public and education channels on Comcast Cable and online.
What is CreaTV San Jose’s mission?
Our mission is to inspire, educate and connect San Jose communities, using media to foster civic engagement.
We fulfill our mission by providing the low-cost training and tools that allow San Jose residents and the businesses, schools and organizations serving San Jose to produce non-commercial videos that air on our TV and Internet channels for free.
What are CreaTV’s channels and how can I watch?
Comcast Cable subscribers in San Jose and parts of Campbell, California can watch us on Community Channel 15, College Channel 27, Classrooms Channel 28 (pre-kindergarten through grade 12) and Silicon Valley Channel 30.
Programming on Channels 15, 28 and 30 is also available via live stream and video on demand on this website.
Do I need to become a member of CreaTV to use the community media center?
Yes. Only CreaTV members have access to our video production facilities, equipment and production classes (select classes are open to non-members, please see the Class Schedule.CreaTV members use our HD studios, production equipment, and support staff to make non-commercial videos for our cable access and Internet channels. Airtime is free.
A one-year membership is $50 for an individual, $25 for ages 24 and under and $40 for seniors, age 65 and older. CreaTV also offers group memberships (up to four people) for families, businesses, non-profits and schools, which range from $100 to $500, depending on the type. Who owns the rights to videos produced for CreaTV’s channels?
You, the producer, own the rights to your video content. Your videos can be used for marketing your business or organization through other distribution channels including web, mobile and broadcast.
Can I hire CreaTV to produce my non-commercial video?
Yes. If you are a CreaTV member, you can hire our professional, award-winning staff to produce your non-commercial video in the studio or on location for reasonable rates. Contact Alison Stewart at (408) 295-8815 ext. 305 or email alison.stewart(at)creatvsj.org.
Can I hire CreaTV, if I have a commercial video to produce?
Yes, but you need to go through CreaTV Pro Services, our commercial division. To hire CreaTV Pro, call (408) 295-8815 or email info(at)creatvpro.com
Can I air my commercial video on CreaTV’s channels?
No. Only non-commercial videos can air on CreaTV’s channels.
